2013 Books I read

So I made it to 45.  I had wanted my number to be 52 but didn't make it.  Here's my list with some comments.  Goal for 2014, well...at least 46 books. 


1     Visiting Tom by Michael Perry

2      Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

3      Loving Frank by Horan (LOVED this book and made me want to visit Taliesin)

4     Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (Wow book, felt bamboozled by the author tho [lied to])

5     The Shoemaker’s Wife by Adriana Trigiani (LOVED this one)

6     The Obituary Writer by Ann Hood (Very good)

7     Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende

T     The Snow Maiden by Joseph P. Rogers (LOVED this one, bought it and sent it to Mari)
Walking Across Egypt by Clyde Edgerton (Funny, fun read, made me rent the movie)
10.   Once Upon a Secret by Mimi Alford

11.   The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Woblewski (LOVED this book, hated the ending)

12.   Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (Very good WW2 true)

13.   Day After Night by Anita Diamant

14.   A Yellow Raft in Blue Water by Michael Dorris (OK and kind of different)

15.   Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich

16.   The Storyteller by Jodi Piccoult

17.   Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards

18.   Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner (Very well written and intriguing)

19.   The Newlyweds by Nell Freudeneberger

20.   What Comes Next by John Katzenbach

21.   The Queen of the Big time by Adriana Trigiani

22.   Tapestry of Fortunes by Elizabeth Berg

23.   A Prisoner of Birth by Jeffrey Archer

24.   Still Missing by Chevy Stevens

25.   Promises to Keep by Ann Tatlock

26.   Water Witches by Chris Bohjalian (very hard to read, forced myself and it finally was good toward the end)

27.   In the Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant

28.   Lone Wolf by Jodi Piccoult

29.   Bossypants by Tina Fey (Interesting and made me want to watch her TV show)

30.   The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls (Good but tough love)

31.   The Bridge by Karen Kingsbury

32.   The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (Good and so glad I read it)

33.   The Underside of Joy by Sere Prince Halverson

34.   Off the Beaten Page by Terri Peterson Smith (The best trips for lit lovers, book clubs, and girls on getaways)

35.   Lets Take the Long Way Home by Gail Caldwell

36.   Uncharted by Angela Hunt (Can’t wait to discuss with our book club)

37.   The Devil’s Corner by Lisa Scottolini

38.   The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd (Different and I enjoyed it)

39.   The Intruder by Peter Blauner (Good book, kind of scary)

40.   The Testament of Mary by Colm Toibin (Merle Streep read it, makes me wonder about her)

41.   Cartwheel by Jennifer Dubois (I didn’t like it because it went on and on and held my interest with a dead pan ending)

42.   The First Phone Call from Heaven by Mitch Albom (an easy read)

43.   The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion (Loved it, funny)

44.   The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (OK book, and then the book club saw the movie)

45.   Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond (Very fun read)
